Whew! It’s been a REALLY LONG TIME, y’all. A lot has happened since the last swap, and it’s hard to believe that we’re already over halfway through 2013! We apologize for the unannounced hiatus, but we’re also VERY happy to finally get the swap up and running again!
See you at La Divina on August 6th!
Ready to get in the kitchen this weekend? We’re counting down to Monday’s swap! Our October NOLA Food Swap will be held at 6 PM on Monday, October 8, at La Divina Gelateria in the Garden District.
With the weather getting cooler and fall in the air, it is the perfect time to start preparing for the changing of seasons in the kitchen! Canned and bottled goods, vegetables picked from the garden, eggs, liquors, dressings, sweets, you name it! We will be swapping anything edible that is homemade, by you, from you. Our last swap was a huge hit, with tons of delicious goods to take home.
We ask that you bring at least 5 individually portioned items to swap with other participants. You can bring more if you want!
Also, please mark your calendars for the upcoming swap dates! After Monday’s swap, these will be the last two swaps of 2012!
November 12th, 6 PM, at La Divina
December 10th, 6 PM, at La Divina
With food swappin’ love,

This month we are celebrating food swapping in New Orleans for one year! We will be having a special swap on Monday August 20th at La Divina Gelateria. Come by around 6pm for a chance to win some special prizes and enjoy some delicious homemade treats. Don’t forget to bring at least 5 items to swap, along with a list of ingredients used and your own bag to take home all your goodies in.
We are so grateful to be part of such a creative food community in New Orleans and are lucky enough to share our cooking talents with each other. Our food swaps give us the chance to connect with others and celebrate local, slow food! To learn more about our food swaps please read our ‘how it works’ section.
Also, please RSVP at http://www.augustnolafoodswap.eventbrite.com, and please bring either a printed ticket or the number from the ticket with you to the swap so that we can check you off our list. We have a limited number of spots so get yours fast!
We welcome new people to our swaps every time we meet, so please come and see what its all about if you have never participated before. We’d love to have you!
This is a last minute reminder that the June swap will take place TOMORROW at 10:00 AM at the OCH Art Market in conjunction with the Eat Local Challenge and the NOLA Locavores. Our theme is “All Things Local,” so bring by some tasty homemade treats that feature local ingredients. Then check out the Arts/Locavore Market to purchase your local groceries and local art!
Bring at least 5 homemade items to barter with other Eat Local Challenge participants and NOLA foodies. This is a great way to share recipes, food tips, home-grown produce, and all-around delicious food! Hope to see you there!

Check out our pictures from April’s swap! We had an impressive variety of homemade treats.
On the savory side, we had homemade yellow tomato-basil jam, zucchini pickles, homemade Mexican five-bean salad, and avocado-tomatillo salsa. On the sweet side of things, there was lavender-honey butter, mayhaw pepper jelly, cantaloupe pickles, and beet-orange ice cream sandwiches.
Is your mouth watering yet? We hope this gives you some last minute inspiration for tomorrow’s swap! See you at 10:00 AM at La Divina Gelateria in the Garden District!
Join us for the May swap in one week, on May 13th at 10 AM. We will meet at La Divina to swap homemade goodies. This month’s theme is family recipes! Just one and a half weeks until the April Food Swap! If you need to get your creative juices flowing as you plan what you will be bringing, take a look at our pictures from March’s swap. We had a great turnout with a lot of creative fare: fig-walnut tapenade, dandelion green pesto, garlic confit, and curried kumquat relish, just to name a few! We even had homemade ricotta cheese gnocchi! It can’t get any better than that!
We are looking forward to seeing you in April! Get into the swapping mood before you gear up for Jazz Fest. Save the date for Sunday, April 22 at 10:00 AM. The swap will take place at La Divina Gelateria in the Garden District, 3005 Magazine Street.
Can’t wait to see you there!
ATTENTION NOLA FOOD SWAPPERS!
Due to what seems to be a shared post-Mardi Gras fog that has settled upon the city, we will be POSTPONING our February swap that was planned for tomorrow. We want to ensure a successful event, and it didn’t seem like many people would be able to attend. Admittedly, it looks like we are all still recovering from carnival!
The new date and time is Sunday, March 11th at 10 AM, at La Divina Gelateria in the Garden District. Save the date! We hope to see you there!
Please spread the word!
